“What a pleasure to find a young band that really gets the blues. Deep and true to the roots. Really digging them. Glad they’re on the scene.” -Bonnie Raitt

“Love them – they’re great!” -Elvin Bishop

“HowellDevine plays with the original feel, intent and spirit—it knocks me out to hear them play such quality blues.” -Charlie Musselwhite

Triple threat Josh Howell (slide guitar, harp, voice), percussion savant Pete Devine (drums, washboard) & bassist Joe Kyle Jr. deftly mix sinuous Delta/Hill Country Blues w/ wildly syncopated rhythms to create a rollickin’ present-day sound from the past.  Bay Area-based, the band has four records out –one self-released, two on Arhoolie Records. The new album is Howl (on Little Village Foundation).

“What makes HowellDevine’s music so engaging is the way they combine their command of the acoustic idiom with an awareness of the entire blues continuum. The effect can be revealingly uncanny, like when they tear into Bukka White’s “Shake ‘Em On Down” and it sounds like a lost, unplugged side from Jimi Hendrix circa 1967.”    -NPR, The California Report
