Frontman, singing drummer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer Boyd Small is a Cascade Blues Association Muddy Award ‘Hall of Fame’ inductee and has been nominated multiple times as ‘Best Blues Drummer’ by the Dutch Blues Foundation. Boyd has had a huge impact on the Dutch blues scene as co-founder of the Amsterdam-based record label Cool Buzz in 1998.

Boyd has performed internationally throughout Western Europe and the US performing with his nine-piece Big Band, 5-piece Soul and Blues Quintet, 4-Piece Rockin ‘Blues Quartet, Acoustic Blues duo and as a solo act and singer / songwriter plus performing with and producing American and European bands such as Memo Gonzales & The Bluescasters, Drippin’ Honey, The Sultans Of Slide, Big Monti Amundson, Frank Goldwasser, Gene Taylor, Kai Strauss, and many other international artists. Boyd has also performed as the drummer and backing vocalist early in his career with the late blues greats Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, Jimmy Rogers, Hubert Sumlin, Pinetop Perkins, Long John Baldry, and Phillip Walker to name a few. His impressive entertainment pedigree shines through in every performance.

For this Waterfront appearance Boyd will be joined by guitarist/guitar-builder Kenny “Blue” Ray. Kenny has led a storied life as a bluesman. He has worked with the brst in the business, including Little Charlie &Y the Nightcats, Marcia Ball, Mitch Woods, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Lee Hooker, Charlie Musselwhite, Smokey Willson, William Clarke, Tommy Castro and too many others to list here. He is know for his beefy guitar overtones, complex chord changes and relaxed, soulful playing. Since 1994 he has released many outstanding solo CDs that showcase his musical prowess as well as the sound quality of the guitars he makes himself.
